If you’re looking for a fairly inexpensive cream with retinol, then look no further. This is Madre Labs Retinol Serum with 1% stabilized retinol that’s great for every skin type especially oily and acne prone skin. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that’s used for treating acne, but it’s also great for reducing the small wrinkles and it has anti aging properties. Here’s the description of Madre Labs Retinol Serum:
Contains retinol, a vitamin A derivative that helps reduce deep wrinkles and pore size, while increasing cell turnover. After cleansing, gently apply a thin layer to face and neck, then moisturize.
Important! Consult your doctor about using products with retinol or Vitamin A if you’re pregnant.
This is the review of Madre Labs Retinol Serum:
Product / Quality:
At first glance, you might think that the Madre Labs Retinol Serum looks strange, but no worries, it’s perfectly ok. The serum itself is quite thick and it looks more like a rich cream then a light watery serum. Although it looks like thick cream, it’s in fact very light and not greasy at all when you apply it on your skin. It’s easy to apply, it spreads evenly onto the face and it gets absorbed almost immediately. Once applied, you can feel that it tightens and moisturizes the skin, and it controls the excessive oiliness.
Retinol may cause sun sensitivity, so one thing that you can do is apply the Madre Labs Retinol Serum in the evening before going to bed and definitely use a sunscreen in the morning when you wake up. If you’re still worried about sun sensitivity, you can use the Madre Labs Retinol Serum in the cold season, when the sun isn’t too bright and hot.
Scent:
When it comes to the scent, Madre Labs Retinol Serum has a unique smell which is not necessarily bad but it’s quite natural and not artificial at all. The smell is really faint and it smells herbal with a hint of honey or beeswax and a little bit of extra virgin olive oil. It’s not unpleasant at all but if you expect a clean artificial powdery smell like store bought creams have, this cream doesn’t have one. When you apply it to your face, it scent lingers for a few minutes but after that you won’t smell it at all.
Price:
Creams and serums that contain retinol can be quite pricey, but that’s not the case with Madre Labs Retinol Serum. You can find this retinol serum at iHerb and Madre Labs Retinol Serum costs only $4.95 for 1 oz (28 g) pot. Even though it cones in somewhat small pot, you don’t need too much product when you apply it so the product will last you for at least couple of months.
Organic / Cruelty Free:
Madre Labs Retinol Serum uses bio degradable ingredients, and it’s cruelty free. This is the ingrdient list of Madre Labs Retinol Serum:
Deionized water, cetearyl olivate, caprylic/capric triglycerides, sorbitan olivate, shea butter ethyl esters, glycerin, thymus vulgaris (thyme) extract, rhodiola rosea root extract, tamarindus indica fruit extract, coffea arabica (coffee) seed extract, silybum marianum seed extract, retinol sodium hyaluronate, sodium ascorbate, tocopheryl acetate, dimethicone, tocopherol, xanthan gum, sodium hydroxide, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, tetrasodium EDTA, pehnoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, sorbic acid.
Packaging:
Madre Labs Retinol Serum comes in a white plastic pot that’s protected with a safety foil that you have to peel off in order to get to the pot. Even though Vitamin A oxidizes when exposed to the air, the Madre Labs Retinol Serum has stabilized form of retinol which means that even though it comes in a pot it won’t oxidize, or at least won’t oxidize as much. The packaging is eco-friendly and recyclable.
So in summary, Madre Labs Retinol Serum is a retinol cream that’s great for acne prone skin, reduces small wrinkles and makes the skin feeling soft and nourished.
