Beauty Mistake #1 – When Applying Perfume

No matter how careful you apply your perfume after you’ve put your clothes on, some of it will end up on your clothing. Your perfume can leave stains on your clothes, it can also mix with your clothes’ scent and change its scent thus becoming unpleasant. All perfumes are formulated to be applied on the skin and not on fabric.

So, before getting dressed, apply a little bit of perfume on your pulse points, your wrists, behind your ears, and on your lower neck. Another tip is to not rub your wrists after applying perfume because it’ll fade faster. Here are few more tips on how to apply your perfume properly.

Beauty Mistake #2 – When Applying Conditioner

Your conditioner isn’t a shampoo and you shouldn’t use it in the same way. If you regularly apply conditioner to all your hair, you’ll get a conditioner build up on your scalp and that will weigh your hair down and make it look flat. Another problem is that your hair will get greasy faster and you’ll have to wash it more frequently especially if you have straight and fine hair.

Apply your conditioner only to your ends where the hair is most damaged and don’t apply it on your scalp. This way your hair will look healthy and voluminous, it won’t get greasy too fast and you’ll save money by not using too much conditioner.

Beauty Mistake #3 – When Applying Setting Powder

If you apply your setting powder before your liquid foundation or moisturizer has dried off, you’ll get uneven coverage. You’ll get patches where the setting powder is caked because of the wet foundation or moisturizer and that doesn’t look good at all. Moreover, you’ll reduce your setting powder’s coverage and your skin imperfections can become more visible.

After applying your liquid foundation or moisturizer, wait at least three minutes before applying your setting powder. If you really don’t have enough time, take a paper towel and gently press it on your face to soak the excess moisturizer or foundation, and then set everything with powder.

Beauty Mistake #4 – When Plucking your Brows

When you stand too close to the mirror, you’ll concentrate on each hair individually, instead on the full shape of your eyebrows. As a result, it’s likely that you’ll pluck more hairs than you really need and get uneven and thin brows.

When you shape your eyebrows, you should step from the mirror from time to time and look at your whole face. This way you can adjust the shape of your eyebrows to match your other facial features. It’s best not to use a magnifying mirror, but to use a normal mirror in a really bright room. After plucking two hairs, stand back from the mirror, see your progress and fix the shape if necessary.

Beauty Mistake #5 – When Using your Makeup

You must be careful when using old makeup that has been unused for quite a while. It can accumulate bacteria and duck and cause you inflammation and irritation. Also don’t share your makeup. You should never share your mascara, eyeliner pencils and lipsticks. This is why every dermatologist suggest that you should never use makeup that’s too old and looks and smells unpleasant, and you shouldn’t share your makeup. If for some reason you borrowed some of your makeup, make sure that you clean it afterwards. When it comes to your eyeliner pencil, sharpen it with a pencil sharpener until you get few layers off. When it comes to your eyeshadow or lipstick, take a napkin and wipe them thoroughly or spray some rubbing alcohol on them and let them dry.
